Swimming!

Entry for April 29, 2008
Well today we went to the Aquatic Center in Whitewater WI. for a couple hours to swim with the LaLeche League group I'm a part of. My younger children have never been swimming in this type of setting so I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into. Well...... it was great!! Even baby loved the water just like when the older children used to swim at the YMCA. The pool is only about 2 ft deep in the shallow end so I didn't feel I had to keep searching for them. It was good for me too, it has been a while since I have been swimming. They have fountains that pour water on you and a wonderful water slide and a spot that simulates a river with a current and also a hot tub. It really is nice. It was a bit of a drive (45 min.) but worth every bit. We arrived home at about 4:15 with three of the four children sleeping! LOL! Swimming really wears children out I guess. I have to admit I feel a little tired myself!
Emily is working tonight until 8. She is beginning to get a few more hours at work now as Summer is approaching us. She is glad for the extra money but I think there are times she would rather stay home. Funny girl!
Jessica will probably start working a few more days as well. When the warmer weather hits it seems like she is needed so much more at the store. That's when they really get busy, and she is only home about 2 or 3 three days in a week.
Tomorrow I will do a few loads of laundry and then it's off to the library, then I hope to go out to eat with the little ones. We haven't done this since Jan. I think. I need to try to get in to the chiropractor to get some relief from my aching neck and back.
Ooops almost forgot, when we were getting ready to go into the pool I put on my swimming suit. WELL.........my little set just laughed and laughed!LOL! They have never seen mama in a swimsuit! FYI I wear a VERY modest suit, but it just looked like a marshmallow wrapped in saran wrap!LOL I haven't worn it in 8 years! The last time I wore it I was expecting Olivia. So it really didn't look too bad to my surprise! Especially if you like marshmallows!

Sweet Friends, ants, and oranges!

Today we had planned on going to Milton House with the Janesville homeschoolers. It was not to be. We had such pouring rain and wind we backed out. Later Steve told me there was golf ball sized hail in Janesville on I-90 right about the time we would have been there. I actually was glad I stayed home.

A dear of a friend from church came by and brought strawberries. grapes, oranges a cheesecake, donuts a bag of cookies and a very pretty bouquet of flowers. Her thoughtfulness almost made me cry.

Later after lunch the children and I went out on the front porch with our pbandj sandwiches and found a batch of ants on the porch. They spent almost 2 hours dropping little crumbs of bread on the floor of the porch to watch the ants carry them off. I counted this as science!

Now as I blog to my audience my sweet girls are now enjoying the juicy oranges that were brought by earlier. I of course am trying to avoid their smell because of my allergy to them, but am glad they are able to enjoy them. Unfortunately there is a not so sweet smell coming from dear baby Savannah sleeping in my lap. Who by the way is doing quite well. To look at her one would never know how sick she had been less than a week ago.

God is so good!!!

Another update

Savannah had a pretty good day yesterday. She was a little fussy but that wasnt too bad. However about 11:30 lastnight she had goosebumps so I covered her up with a quilt knowing full well that this meant fever. All my children do this. Sure enough about thirty minutes later she became very warm. I took her temp and it was 103.9!! yikes!! After being normal all day it was quite a change. So I immediately gave her a dose of Motrin, and a drink of ice water. I then put a cool cloth on the back of her neck. After about 15 minutes it came down 1 degree. I continued with the cool cloth but also wet her hair. This brought the temp down to 101, and so I went to bed. Today she is grumpy, and not liking anyone at all to touch her except mom. I have had to change messy diapers about 4 times now so I think she has the flu. She is eating fine and nursing so I'm not worried about that. I just can't take my eyes off her because of this fever. Her temps are normal now, but she is sometimes means as a grizzly!! We had school today but will forego the aftenoon unit study about scent until Savannah feels better. Tomorrow is suppose to be a beautiful day, and we were invited to a picnic with the homeschool group at Rockcut park, but as of now I doubt we'll go. I have a field trip planned for the end of the week to Milton House I am hoping she is well enough to go to that.
We'll see! Take care everyone, the grizzly just woke up LOL!!

Febrile Seizure.....update

Good evening everyone!
Thank you all for your prayers and kind notes during this time. Savannah went into the pediatricians office today, and her ear infection was gone. It was determined that the spike in temp was due to an untreated ear infection. He told me they (seizures) are as common with a fever as sneezing is with a cold. He also told me (as many of you have also said) that now that she has had one she has a 50 percent chance of having another should she get a fever. They arent really anything to worry about even though they are scary. He also told me to just time them should it happen again, and then treat the same as with fever. Just so you know her temp most of the day had been 100.1. Now I dont know about you all, but I don't even administer tylenol for a fever that low. Her temp must have spiked up to 104.9 in just minutes and that is what caused the seizure. Savannah is fever free so far today. I just thank the Lord for his Mercy. Thank you all for praying for our little one.

Febrile seizure/ Ambulance ride

We had quite a bit of excitement here lastnight! About 6 pm our dear baby Savannah had a seizure! she had been crying when Jess was holding her so I took her and she got stiff with her eyes glazed over, she then began to shake. I called for everyone to come help me and Em came in to help get her sweater off she then was unresponsive and finally went limp. I went to the phone to call 911. By now complete chaos was if full progress!! Em and Jess were holding her and calling her name, and putting cold water on her. Steve was calling 911 on his cell phone (he didnt know I was already talking to them). By now she had stopped breating and was turning blue. I could hear the ambulance coming so we took her out front to meet them. Seemed like an eternity!! When the paramedic came to the door she was starting to breath again but unresponsive. It was as if she was looking at us but not seeing us. Then Steve put his hand on her chest and she reached for him and pulled his beard. He then cried (and who could blame him). We were taken to Beloit Memorial hospital. They did a chest xray which was clear, and took her temp which was 104.9!! Right away they gave her tylenol and then motrin. This brought her temp down to 102. They gave her a shot in each leg of an antibiotic because she had an ear infection as well. We were then sent home. So far her temps. have been anywhere from 99.5-103.1. I have been diligently giving her tylenol every 4 hours. It seems to keep it down below 104. I am going to call our pediatrician tomorrow morning. Please pray that she gets better quickly. I will try to update tomorrow.

oooops forgot to add the pics!!!!

Here are some random pics! read post below!

this and that!!

Hello Everyone,
Well, it is Sunday. Today we went to church. My little Lillian was as wiggly as a worm! I ended up not visiting afterwards as she needed tending to. We came home and had dinner, and dessert.
Yesterday we went to visit a new friend that has a preschool. She was having an open house and I figured I would go to see how she does things and for some inspiration. Well I came home properly motivated to say the least. Our little girls made pussy willow paintings, and beeswax butterflies, and also some very tasty soft pretzels. I also found out that a couple of the ladies live within minutes of my home!
Friday found us in the immediate care. Emily had an ear infection. The ear was so packed with wax they had irrigate it in order to see inside of it. There were several pieces of wax which looked like pebbles! Two of which were quite large. After they got them out the could see she had an ear infection. Emily's response was "hey! I can hear again!" LOL!! She has a prescription for an antibiotic and ear drops. Wednesday we also were in the same immediate care clinic with Abby. Who said she has had ear pain for three days! ACH!! she didn't even tell me. She had an ear infection so we went to Walmart to get her prescription filled and we also bought a couple of cars. They are the characters from the CARS movie. So now that makes 4 out of the six children to have ear infections! It has been quite a March! Hopefully May will be better.
We have our pop up camper for sale now. We would like to sell it as we will never use it for camping, or anything else actually. I hate camping and really never intend to go as long as there is breath in this body! LOL! I am an outdoor girl but I don't want to sleep out there on a cement bed!
I am working on a few sewing projects that seem to be taking forever to finish. I just cannot seem to get to them. One is a cape dress that I cut out the cape diagonally so the squares are diamonds. I also have a couple of jumpers yet to sew. One is with a skirt bottom and one is with culottes on the bottom. I am wearing my "tent" style denim jumper that I made. I saw them in a catalog for 69 dollars! I knew I could make them a lot cheaper than that. I also made two others in a navy homespun, and another in burgundy homespun. That's my favorite fabric.
After this batch of sewing is done I plan to embark on making some things for the younger girls. Including a set of matching dresses. Actually we all will match even the older girls. This is what we will be wearing when we get the next pictures taken.
Well gotta run. Hope you enjoy the random pictures. I was just looking through a folder of some old pictures and thought I'd post some of them.
