Discovery Center Museum

This past Thursday we started our day by working on our unit study based on the book The Duchess Bakes a Cake. Then after lunch the younger children and I loaded into the van and headed into Rockford to the Discovery center. For those who don't know it is a children's museum full of hands on activity. They had free admission from 1pm to 7pm that day. The girls had a blast. We spent around three hours there and could have spent a lot more time there. After touring the museum we stopped at the gift shop and bought three Discovery center museum t-shirts.

Here are several pictures of that afternoon of fun.

Enjoy!

July 9-16

Good afternoon everybody!

I hope everyone is well on this sweltery hot afternoon! We haven't had much going on this week. But I will give you a brief post anyway. First I'll start with last Wednesday. Olivia and Abigail had runny noses. So I looked in both of their ears and Olivia's was full of wax. So I set to cleaning it. Then Abby began complaining of ear pain too, so I looked in hers and it looked a little red but didn't look too serious. I worked on those ears for what seemed like eternity and could not dislodge the wax. So I gave up and took them in to the Immediate Care at Northpointe clinic. Dr. D'angelo was on duty (yay!!) and he said Abby's was just starting to get infected, but Olivia's was too waxy to see. So he cleaned it out (of course it came clean quickly as I had most of it very loose) and looked in to see again, and of course it was "slightly" infected. So he gave Olivia a presciption for amox. and Abby a prescription for zithromax (due to her earlier allergic reaction to amox.) I had absolutely no intention of having them on another anti-biotic though. So home we came and I set to treating them myself with good old fahioned Garlic by mouth, and olive oil for the ears. If they had any pain I'd give them something for that but I didn't have to. I also treated little Savannah's ears a few days later (just in case). Thursday we went to the library to hear the storyteller they were having. He was such a hoot! The children loved it. Afterwards we went to Dairyhaus for ice cream!! MMMMMM!!!!

Friday, Steve was home due to rain, so we went to Walmart. After Walmart we went to the cell phone store, to replace my terribly broken cell phone. I got a red one! LOL!!

Mon-Tues. were spent playing in the sprinkler, and sandbox etc. Jessica went to the bank and Shopko, and in the process backed into someone UGH!!! Steve is helping her sort that all out. It was a mexican man that can hardly speak english. He tried to give us an estimate for 1197.00!! We told him it will have to go through insurance, all of a sudden he had a "friend" that could do the work cheaper! He just called back with a price of $560! The dent is barely even noticable. I saw it yesterday. So I told him he can call back and talk to Steve. (Steve is a lot meaner and more intimidating than we are LOL).

Today we thought about going to the library but it is too sticky and I don't feel like it. The little ones are a bit disappointed, but I just don't want to go outside today! We will probably go tomorrow.

Well.....that is our week. I am also posting a few random pictures!

Independance Day!

I hope all of you had a lovely Independance day. We spent our day at Grandma's. Uncles Chris and Rob were there and cousin Sam, and Big sister Jaimie, and Travis as well. We spent the beautiful day outside swimming, biking, eating, laughing, laughing and more laughing!! After dark Uncle Rob and Daddy lit up some fireworks, as did many of Grandma's neighbors. We watched the various light shows from Grandma and Grandpa's back deck! It was very nice. We arrived home around 10:30-ish with very tired children. Here are few pictures taken that day.
