closing out the week!

My key keeper (Olivia)

See my painting!!

Cheese!!

Yesterday (Friday) we had art in school. We are working on making paper lanterns for our lantern walk in a couple weeks. We started out by painting with water colors on watercolor paper to classical music. This was Savannah's first experience with painting. She painted like a pro! By the time we were finished she had pretty blue spatters all over her and a blue smudge above her lip. I will have more updates to come as this particular project takes a few art classes to finish. After clean up we piled into the van and ventured off on a nature walk. We went over across the street from McNeel school (mom, you will recognize the pictures Im sure) and took a nice walk. It was a beautiful day. We took pictures and collected many seed pods as well. We even saw ducks and geese swimming in the water.
After our lovely walk we piled back into the van and came home. Jessica was getting ready for a trip. She is on her way to Ontario Canada with our minister's family. They invited her to come, and since she knows a girl about an hour away from where the minister has to preach on Sunday she accepted. She met this girl at Bible school and has kept in touch with her ever since. I will have to let you know how that goes. It is a 15 hour drive to get there and I have not heard from her yet today. We expect her to be back home sometime on Monday. We have been enjoying some very nice weather this past couple of days. On Wednesday I didn't really feel like going to the children's book club in Chemung (near Harvard IL) so we went to the library (in Rockton) storyhour and then on to the South Beloit library(we go to 2 different libraries). After gathering a nice array of fresh reading we came home and ate a quick lunch of homemade pizza and pears, and then went on to visit grandma and grandpa. The children had just as much fun doing this alternative activity as they would have had in Chemung. Today we will be doing some music and a sewing instruction class (here at home). It is time for Olivia and Abigail to begin some sewing lessons from mama!
Take care everybody!

wifd

Here are several examples of feminine dress. These are pictures of our youngest (and most playful)

little girls playing and gardening. Many people dont think young children can play comfortably or safely in dresses, but they adapt just fine especially if that is all they know. The Bible says, "to train up a child in the way they should go and when he is old he will not depart from it". If we fail in teaching and training them the simple principle of modesty how can we teach and train them in the bigger principals of Christian life. When we fail as parents our children suffer by losing their eternal souls. So that is why we teach this biblical principal along with many others.

day 5 wifd

here are several examples of feminine dress. These are mostly "action" shots such as bowling, in the first picture, visiting the art museum in the second picture, baking cookies in the next, playing in the sandbox in the second to last. The very last one is of us after church.

day 3 Week in feminine dress~~~

Okay today Jessica is modelling feminine dress by wearing a cape dress. It is a dress without embellishments, and is called a "cape" dress because of the extra fabric covering the front and back bodices. Also little girls are taught to be modest as well. In the picture of Savannah she is wearing a below the knee length dress with cotton/spandex leggings underneath for extra warmth.

As promised!

In this photo I am wearing a navy blue corduroy skirt and a navy blue sweatshirt that says Walk in the wisdom of our Lord! These were both purchase a couple years ago brand new from Blair.

I am also putting some pictures of the five girls that were at home this afternoon. Sorry....guess I only got four in the picture;-)

Week in Feminine Dress!

Just to let you all know that I am planning on doing a week long blog entry of feminine dress. Most of you who know me know that I only wear dresses and very modest culottes. I am planning to post a daily picture of either myself or one of the girls in an activity in our day to show that it can be done in a dress. I am not trying to be arrogant about this, just thought it would be something fun to do. I know many other Christian bloggers have done this and it has always been a blessing to me as a reader and now I feel it is my turn to try to be a blessing to others. As you will see in the week to come I wear dresses (or skirts) and do anything that a person in jeans would do. I also have very old dresses and some nice ones. Again my goal is not to "dig" at anyone just simply want to bless. Pictures to come soon!

Skelly's Farm Market

Handing out maps so nobody gets lost. The first marker

Pumpkin school

picking out a pumpkin, and yummy donuts

We had a blast at Skelly's farm market on Hayner RD. in Janesville today (Friday).I wasn't sure we would be able to go as Lily had a bit of fever left over from the day before. But alas! we hustled through breakfast and teeth brushing so we could get out the door ontime. The girls wore long john sets for pajamas the night before and so I had them put on jumpers over them all except Olivia, she changed into something totally different. She is very grown up and getting quite independant. First we went on the wagon ride. That was pretty fun, then the children went to pumpkin school. Yup you read it right pumpkin school. this is where they learned all about the different types of pumpkins, and colors and the different things you can do with pumpkins, squash and gords. After pumpkin school they went into the pumpkin patch to pick out one pumpkin and one gord. This was lots of fun as there were many different sizes of pumpkins and gords to choose from. When this was finished we headed to the picnic area for pumpkin donuts (mom, these were not as good as apple cider ones) and juice. When that was all finished we headed to the corn maze. Wow!! what a blast it was. We found all 12 markers thanks to a friends very smart little boy. Im sure I would have been lost and would have had to have someone come get me!LOL! After the corn maze the children played on the playground together with the rest of our group. I called it a day when Savannah stood by the wooden bus and messed in her diaper. It was a good reason to gather the girls together and head home, which once in the van everyone was very ready to be home and have some lunch. I should have known to pack a snack for the ride home......oh well, Im not perfect and in turn I got what I deserved (a very long ride home!!) no really once we got going for a bit they all settled in and quieted down. We are now enjoying PBS on tv. My camera was acting up a bit so not all the pictures look good but I will post the ones that look the best.

Until another time!
