Park Day!

Today it was a beautiful day here in Northern IL and Southern WI! We had school today, we finished up around 12:30. Then after a quick lunch we decided to go to the park which is about 5 minutes from our house. On Friday we would normally have music lessons, but it was such a nice day that we thought it would be nice to go on a nature walk. We packed up some water and the littles and headed off to the beautiful Horace White park in Beloit. They played on the playground equipment for a while, and then I took them on the walkpath. I and Savannah walked but the rest ran, and ran, and ran. Then after a quart of water we sat under a lovely old oak tree and collected acorns, that is all except the three little girls they ran, and ran, and ran (I think I see a theme here!). Then after gathering many different colored leaves, spotting several lady bugs, and collecting pine cones, acorns and stones we headed back to the playground. After playing for about an hour we headed home. Olivia was sure that she felt the way one would feel if they had spent the day in the desert! LOL! This then sparked a conversation about what happens to us when we dehydrate and such. But then I don't think you want to hear about all of that. So it turned out to be a very educating trip :-)Here are several pictures of our outing, those of you who are from around here will recognize many of the locations. After arriving back home we did leaf rubbings in our nature journals. Even Savannah did a "rubbing" of her own:-)

Beautiful pictures Anna. :o) Your girls are all so adorable. The blue sky and colorful trees just add to the pictures. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully I will update my blog this weekend with some pics from our trip to Mt Horeb last weekend.
